titleOfInvention IMPROVED SEAL OF A CUFF FOR ENDOTRACHEAL TUBES
abstract 1. A gel-forming sealing material for a medical device, said gel-forming sealing material comprising:! a viscoelastic material exhibiting a first viscosity when introduced into the internal cavity; and! a second viscosity after being in the internal cavity for a predetermined time, said cavity adjacent to a medical device configured to overlap at least a portion of said internal cavity; ! wherein said viscoelastic material provides increased impermeability to a portion of said inner cavity covered by a medical device. ! 2. The gel-forming sealing material according to claim 1, wherein said medical device includes an inflatable cuff. ! 3. The gel-forming sealing material according to claim 1, in which the gel-forming sealing material thickens and then adheres to the inner surfaces of said inner cavity after being in the inner cavity for a predetermined period of time. ! 4. The gel-forming sealing material according to claim 3, in which a predetermined period of time is from about 5 s to about 5 hours! 5. The gel-forming sealing material according to claim 1, wherein said first viscosity of said gel-forming sealing material is at least about 100 cP. ! 6. The gelling sealant according to claim 1, wherein the second viscosity of said gelling sealant is at least about 1,000,000 cP. ! 7. The gel-forming sealing material according to claim 1, wherein the gel-forming sealing material is formed as a result of crosslinking. ! 8. G
