titleOfInvention | CONTAINERS FOR FOOD AND DRINKS AND METHODS FOR APPLICATION ON THEIR COATING |
abstract | 1. A container for a food or drink containing a metal substrate, wherein at least a portion of the metal substrate is coated, made from a composition comprising:! a resin system containing carboxyl groups, hydroxyl groups, or combinations thereof; ! a crosslinking agent selected from the group consisting of a phenolic crosslinking agent, an amine containing crosslinking agent, and combinations thereof; and! a catalyst selected from the group consisting of a titanium-containing catalyst, a zirconium-containing catalyst, and combinations thereof; ! however, the composition is essentially free of bisphenol A.! 2. The container according to claim 1, characterized in that the resin system is a water-soluble or water-dispersible system. ! 3. The container according to claim 2, characterized in that the resin system comprises a polyester resin, an acrylate resin, a grafted polyester-acrylate resin, or combinations thereof. ! 4. The container according to claim 1, characterized in that the crosslinking agent includes a phenolic crosslinking agent having a weight average molecular weight of from 800 to 8000.! 5. The container according to claim 1, characterized in that the crosslinking agent contains a phenolic crosslinking agent, which is a reaction product of components comprising a phenolic compound selected from the group consisting of phenol, cresol, p-phenylphenol, p-tert-butylphenol, p-tert-amylphenol, cyclopentylphenol, cresilic acid, and combinations thereof. ! 6. The container according to claim 1, characterized in that the crosslinking agent contains an amine-containing crosslinking agent, which is an aminoplast selected from the group consisting of benzoguanamine-formaldehyde resins, melamine-formaldehyde resins, esterification |
