titleOfInvention METHOD FOR USING EC-FOURIER-X DATA TO PREDICT MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF POLYETHYLENE
abstract 1. A method for determining the value of a physical or chemical property of at least one polymer test sample, wherein the at least one polymer test sample is characterized by a molecular weight distribution profile (MMP) and short chain branching (RRC) distribution, including! a) the preparation of at least two polymer preparatory samples, where each preparatory sample is characterized by a profile of MMP, RRC and a known value of the corresponding physical or chemical properties; ! b) determining at least two weighted cross members for the respective molecular weights on the MMP and RRC profile for each of the at least two polymer prep samples and at least one polymer test sample, where each weighted cross member is determined as a result of multiplication:! (1) an appropriate molecular weight; ! (2) mass fraction for the corresponding molecular weight; and! (3) the number of short chain branches per 1000 carbon atoms for the corresponding molecular weight; ! c) plotting each weighted cross term against the logarithm of the corresponding molecular weight for each of at least two polymer preparatory samples and at least one polymer test sample; ! d) determining the corresponding area under each curve obtained according to step c); ! e) determining the relationship between the corresponding area for each of the at least two polymer preparatory samples determined in stage d), and known
