abstract 1. Semi-crystalline semi-aromatic polyamide containing units derived from diamines (A-A units) containing an aliphatic diamine, and units derived from dicarboxylic acids (B-B units) containing terephthalic acid, characterized in that! a) dicarboxylic acids consist of a mixture of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid, where! i. the aromatic dicarboxylic acid contains at least 80 mol% terephthalic acid based on the total aromatic dicarboxylic acid, and! ii. the molar amount of the aliphatic dicarboxylic acid is at least 5 mol% based on the total amount of dicarboxylic acids! b) the diamines consist of a mixture of a long chain aliphatic diamine and a short chain aliphatic diamine, and the molar amount of the short chain aliphatic diamine is at least 10 mol% based on the total amount of diamines, and! c) the sum of the molar amount of the aromatic dicarboxylic acid and the long chain aliphatic diamine is 60-80 mol%, based on the total molar amount of the dicarboxylic acids and the diamines. ! 2. The semi-aromatic polyamide of claim 1, wherein the aliphatic dicarboxylic acid is selected from the group consisting of adipic acid (C6), suberic acid (C8), sebacic acid (C10), dodecanoic acid (C12), and mixtures thereof. ! 3. A semi-aromatic polyamide according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the short chain aliphatic diamine is selected from the group consisting of ethylenediamine, 1,4-butanediamine and 1,5-pentanediamine, and mixtures thereof. ! 4.
