abstract | 1. A method of producing a salt of optionally substituted 4- (benzimidazol-2-ylmethylamino) benzamidine, characterized in that! (a) the corresponding optionally substituted diaminobenzene is condensed with 2- [4- (1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-one-3-yl) phenylamino] acetic acid and! (b) i) the product thus obtained is hydrogenated! ii) the amidine group is optionally carbonylated without first isolating the hydrogenation intermediate and! iii) the desired salt is separated without preliminary isolation of the intermediate carbonylation product. ! 2. The method according to claim 1 for producing a salt of optionally substituted 4- (benzimidazol-2-ylmethylamino) benzamidine of formula (I) with organic or inorganic acids! ! in which R1 is a C1-C6 alkyl or C3-C7 cycloalkyl group,! R2! (i) denotes a C1-C6 alkyl, C3-C7 cycloalkyl group optionally substituted with a C1-C3 alkyl group, where the C1-C3 alkyl group may be further substituted by a carboxy group or a group that can be converted in vivo to a carboxy group, ! or !
