titleOfInvention | ALKYLATION ON THE RING OF ANILINE OR ANILINE DERIVATIVE USING IONIC LIQUID CATALYSTS |
abstract | 1. A method of alkylation on the ring of aniline or aniline derivative, comprising the reaction of aniline or aniline derivative with an alkylating agent in the presence of an ionic liquid containing the anion of a Lewis acid, which is a metal halide, and a quaternary cation, to obtain alkylated in the alkylaniline cycle or alkylated in aniline derivative cycle. ! 2. A process according to claim 1, wherein the aniline is reacted with said alkylating agent. ! 3. The method of claim 1, wherein said aniline derivative contains at least one alkyl substituent attached to the ring. ! 4. The method of claim 1, wherein said aniline derivative contains at least one alkyl substituent attached to a nitrogen atom. ! 5. The method of claim 1, wherein said alkylating agent is a substituted or unsubstituted linear, branched or cyclic olefin or arylalkene. ! 6. A process according to claim 5, wherein said olefin is a linear olefin selected from the group consisting of 1-hexene, 1-nonene, 1-decene, and 1-dodecene. ! 7. A process according to claim 5, wherein said olefin is a branched olefin selected from the group consisting of propylene trimer, propylene tetramer, propylene pentamer, and diisobutylene. ! 8. A process according to claim 5, wherein said olefin is a cyclic olefin selected from the group consisting of cyclohexene, cyclopentene and cyclooctene. ! 9. A process according to claim 5, wherein said olefin is an arylalkene selected from the group consisting of styrene, methylstyrene, 3-phenylpropene, and 2-phenyl-2-butene. ! 10. The method according to claim 1, wherein said Lewis acid is a metal halide selected from the groups |
