titleOfInvention | LOW CORROSION INK AND INK SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PRODUCING LOW CORROSION INK |
abstract | 1. An inkjet fixative composition comprising:! water; ! polycationic fixing agent; and ! counterion, where the counterion is selected to reduce the presence of halogen in the fixative. ! 2. The fixer composition of claim 1, wherein the polycationic fixing agent is selected from at least one of the following: polyamines, quaternized polyamines, polyguanidines, polyethyleneimines, dicyandiamide resins, poly (diallyldimethylammonium) resins, and combinations thereof. ! 3. A fixer composition according to claim 1, wherein the counterion is selected from at least one of the following: acetate, nitrate, sulfate, phosphate, propionate, malonate, mesylate, lactate, sulfonate, phosphonate, triflate, non-chloride anion, and combinations. ! 4. The fixer composition of claim 1, wherein the fixer composition further comprises a water-soluble cosolvent having a lower vapor pressure than water. ! 5. The fixer composition of claim 1, wherein the fixer composition further comprises a water miscible surfactant. ! 6. The fixer composition of claim 1, wherein the fixer composition further comprises an acid with a pKa of about 3 to about 6.! 7. The fixer composition of claim 1, wherein the polycationic fixing agent is structured such that it is capable of complexing with the anionic dye and rendering the anionic dye insoluble. ! 8. A method of obtaining a substantially non-corrosive ink composition, comprising the steps of:! dissolving the non-halogen counterion polycation in a solvent to form a fixing composition in the first excipient; and ! obtaining an ink composition in a second filler, where the fixing composition is used to serve on a substrate |
