titleOfInvention IMPROVEMENTS RELATED TO AND APPLYING TO WOOL TREATMENT
abstract 1. A method of processing woolen material, including the stages:! (a) contacting the wool material with a cationic surfactant; and! (b) contacting the wool material with a nucleophile. ! 2. A method according to claim 1, wherein steps (a) and (b) are carried out simultaneously. ! 3. A method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the nucleophile of step (b) is non-reducing. ! 4. The method according to claim 3, wherein the nucleophile is selected from hydrogen peroxide and its derivatives, perhydroxy anion, peroxide anion, peracid, polyacid, alkali metal or ammonium hydroxide, hydroxyl anion, hydroxylamine, alkanolamine, alcoholate, amine, phenol, thiocyanate or any mixture of them. ! 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the total processing time for steps (a) and (b) is 45 seconds. ! 6. The method of claim 1, wherein the wool fabric is contacted with the cationic surfactant of step (a) for a period of 1 to 120 seconds and with the nucleophile of step (b) for a period of 1 to 120 seconds. ! 7. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step (c) of contacting the wool material with an acid having a pH of substantially no more than 6.! 8. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of (d) contacting the wool fabric with an agent or agents capable of promoting additional anionic character to the surface of the wool fabric. ! 9. The method of claim 10, wherein the agent or agents capable of promoting the additional anionic character of the wool surface comprises an oxidizing agent. ! 10. The method of claim 11, wherein the oxidizing agent comprises potassium peroxomonosulfate. ! 11. The method of claim 8, wherein step (d) further comprises contacting the wool material with the nucleus
