titleOfInvention IMPROVED IMMUNO ANALYSIS METHODS
abstract 1. A method for detecting a disease state or predisposition to a disease in a mammal, comprising detecting an antibody in a test sample containing body fluid of a specified mammal, wherein said antibody is a biological marker of a disease state or susceptibility to a disease, where the method includes! (a) contacting said test sample with a variety of different amounts of antigen specific for said antibody,! (b) detecting the specific binding of said antibody and said antigen,! (c) plotting or calculating a curve for the amount of said specific binding versus the amount of antigen for each amount of antigen used in step (a), and! (d) determining the presence or absence of said disease state or predisposition to the disease based on the specific binding of said antibody and said antigen for each individual antigen concentration used. ! 2. The method according to claim 1, where the presence or absence of the specified disease state or susceptibility to the disease is determined based on the total values of the specific binding for all tested antigen concentrations. ! 3. The method according to claim 1 or 2, where the presence or absence of the indicated disease state or predisposition to the disease is determined by screening the graph from step (c) to detect the presence of a usually S-shaped or sigmoid curve. ! 4. The method according to claim 1, where the antibody is an autoantibody specific for protein
