abstract 1. A composition comprising a mixture of at least one flavonoid with a free B-cycle, at least one flavan, and at least one agent selected from the group consisting of an injectable anticoagulant agent, an oral anticoagulant agent, an antiplatelet agent, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) or a selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor (COX-2). ! 2. The composition according to claim 1, in which the ratio of the flavonoid with a free B-cycle to flavan in the specified composition is selected from the range from about 99: 1 flavonoid with a free B-cycle: flavan to about 1:99 flavonoid with a free B-cycle: flavana. ! 3. The composition according to claim 2, in which the ratio of the flavonoid with a free B-cycle: flavan in the present composition is approximately 85:15. ! 4. The composition according to claim 1, wherein said free B-cycle flavonoid is selected from the group of compounds having the following structure:! ! in which R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 are independently selected from the group consisting of -H, -OH, -SH, OR, -SR, -NH2, -NHR, -NR2, -NR3 + X-, carbon, oxygen, nitrogen or sulfur, a glycoside from one or a combination of multiple sugars, including, but not limited to, aldopentoses, methylaldopentose, aldoghexoses, ketohexose and their chemical derivatives; ! in which R represents an alkyl group comprising 1-10 carbon atoms, and! X is selected from the group of pharmaceutically acceptable counterions, including hydroxyl, chloride, iodide, sulfate, phosphate, acetate, fluoride and carbonate. ! 5.
