| abstract | 1. A dressing for wound care that contains a first water-soluble non-woven protective coating that contains a first plurality of fibers, said first plurality of fibers being formed from a first water-soluble saccharide. The wound care dressing according to claim 1, wherein said first saccharide is selected from the group consisting of a monosaccharide, disaccharide and a polyol containing (N) carbons and (N) hydroxyl groups, wherein (N) is greater than or equal to 4 and less than or equal to 12.3. The wound care dressing according to claim 1, further comprising a first medication selected from the group consisting of an antifungal medication, an antibacterial medication, an antiviral medication, an antiprotozoal medication, a coagulant and anesthetic. Wound care dressing according to claim 3, wherein the first medicament is uniformly dispersed in the volume of the first non-woven protective coating. The wound care dressing of claim 3, wherein the first non-woven protective coating has a first surface and an opposite second surface, the first medication having a first weight percent in a first non-woven protective coating close to the first surface and a second weight percent in a first non-woven protective coating close to the second surface, wherein the first weight percent is greater than the second weight percent. 6.
