| abstract | 1. A device for whitening teeth, including a barrier layer; a tooth whitening composition positioned relative to said barrier layer so as to be in contact with human teeth during use, comprising at least one tooth whitening agent; and a protective adhesive composition located relative to the specified barrier layer so as to contact and to adhere to the gums of the user during use, containing at least one tissue adhesion agent, which includes at least one hydrophilic polymer. 2. The tooth whitening device according to claim 1, wherein said barrier layer is flexible so that during use it is easy to accept the conformation of human teeth. The tooth whitening device according to claim 1, wherein said barrier layer comprises at least one compound of wax, metal foil, paraffin, ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer, polycaprolactone, polyolefin, polyethylene, high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, ultra low density polyethylene, polypropylene, polytetrafluoroethylene, polyester, polycarbonate, polyurethane, polyamide or polyamide ether. 4. The tooth whitening device according to claim 1, wherein said barrier layer has a cross-sectional thickness in the range from about 0.025 mm to about 1.5 mm.
