Process for the preparation of beta-n-phenoxyacetic acid by reacting beta-naphthol with monocloracetic acid in a molar ratio of 1: 1 in alkaline medium, characterized in that, in order to retain a product of superior purity, toluene is used as the solvent, the salt the sodium of the beta-naphthoxyacetic acid obtained is converted to the corresponding acid in a continuous process by treatment with hydrochloric acid. |
