The invention relates to a process for the preparation of quinoxalinyl-1,4-dioxide derivatives of general formula I wherein R 1 is H or alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms, R 2 is hydrogen or hydroxy, Q is a carbon or nitrogen atom, A is hydrogen, hydroxymethyl or alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms, B is a nitro group, or phenyl optionally substituted by halogen, or A and B together with the adjacent carbon atom form a thiazolidinyl radical, imidazolinyl.
