abstract | Process for the preparation of antibiotics of general formula I: (wherein R represents a group selected from: R 1 represents a lower alkyl group, a halogen substituted lower alkyl group, or a the phenylalkyl group, R2 represents a lower alkyl group, a lower cycloalkyl group, a phenyl group, a phenylalkyl group with the monosubstituted phenyl radical, or R1 and R2 together represent a halogen substituted lower alkyl group, an alkenyl group, a lower cycloalkyl group a phenyl group, a monosubstituted phenyl group, a phenylalkyl group or a phenylalkyl group with the mono-substituted phenyl radical, or R1 and R2 together represent a tetramethylene group, a pentamethylene group or a methylene group, a pentamyl group or a hexamethylene group, characterized in that reacting an amine of the general formula II: wherein R is as defined above with a ketone of the general formula III: wherein R 1 and R 2 have the significance shown above, in a weight ratio of 0.02: 1, at room temperature and pH = 6-8, in the presence of sodium cyanoborohydride, in inert solvent medium to the reactants, then the reaction product is separated in a known manner. |
