abstract The invention relates to haloester and gamma-lactone intermediates of the Corey aldehyde type with the aldehyde group protected in the form of acetal or cycloacetoacetals used for the synthesis of prostaglandin analogs. The haloester, racemic or enantiomerically pure (+) - or (-) - enantiomeric intermediates, respectively, are of Formula 1: wherein H1g is a Cl, F, Br or I atom, X is O or S, n is 0 ... 3, R is an ether, silyl-ether, trityl or ester group. The racemic or enantiomerically pure (+) - or (-) - racemic or enantiomeric intermediates are corresponding to formula 2, wherein X, R and n are as defined above.
