abstract The invention relates to updating beacons for intelligent video analysis. The update method according to the invention comprises; a step of generating, at an analytical server, at least one of an initial probability density for a video product, and an initial granularity mapping for the video product based on the initial probability density; the second step of initiating an initial sampling session at the analytical server; the third step of sending, from the analytical server to a video server, at least one of the initial probability density and the initial granularity mapping such that the video content server sends the video and at least one of the initial probability density and the initial granularity mapping of each client from a plurality of customers, the video content server storing the video; the fourth step of receiving, at the analytical server, from each client of the plurality of clients, a set of beacons generated by each client from the plurality of clients according to at least one of the initial probability density and the initial granularity mapping, during playback of the video product, based on a playback time from each customer in the crowd; the fifth step of generating at least one of an updated probability density and an updated granularity map based on the updated probability density so that a quantity of beacons in the beacon set is altered.
