abstract | The invention relates to an apparatus and method for investigating the sensory facial nerve. According to the invention, the apparatus consists of a DC source () applied by means of a potentiometer () to a set of bipolar electrodes () in the form of platinum wires with a diameter of between 0.8 and 1, 2 mm, length 10 mm, spaced 6 mm by means of an inert insulating material () with high thermal resistance. According to the invention, the method is based on a comparison of the voltage applied by means of the apparatus, the bipolar electrode () being placed on the side edge of the tongue, on the healthy side and on the diseased side, at 1.5 cm from the tongue, feels metallic taste. |
