titleOfInvention PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING SUPERIOR OXO-ALCOHOLS
abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of higher oxalic alcohols of 7 to 18 carbon atoms by hydroformylation of the corresponding olefins with synthesis gas in the presence of an organic phase containing a cobalt catalyst at temperatures of 50 to 220 ° C and pressures comprised between 100 and 400 bar, followed by hydrogenation of the aldehydes thus obtained, wherein the cobalt catalyst is obtained by reacting an aqueous solution of the cobalt salt with synthesis gas in the presence of an organic solvent which is very low or not miscible with water, and the organic phase containing the cobalt catalyst is obtained by extracting the cobalt catalyst formed from the aqueous phase with an organic extraction agent which is little or no miscible with water. Cobalt catalyst formation, extraction of the cobalt catalyst in the organic phase, and hydroformylation of the corresponding olefins are carried out in a single process step. The oxo alcohols obtained by the process according to the invention can be used in the production of carboxylic acid esters, which can be used as plasticizers for plastics.
