abstract The invention relates to a rapid immunochromatographic method for diagnosing active pulmonary tuberculosis by determining sputum mycobacterial antigens and antimycobacterial antibodies in the serum of the patients. By this method a nitrocellulose membrane is sensitized by the addition of treated sputum or specific mycobacterial antigen, after which a saline, Tween and bovine serum albumin (TFS-T-A) solution is added to block unreacted sites. By adding antimycobacterial or serum immunoglobulins from a patient, the antibody reaction takes place with the antigens, and finally a staphylococcal protein A conjugate with colloidal gold particles (SpA-Au) is added to mark and determine visual reaction.
