abstract Procaine ex Geroivital H3 is dually labelled by gamma radioactive isotopes of 99mTc and 131I to render both APAB and DEAB metabolites of procaine, specific, and to bring the dually labelled procaine to the GH3 state. During this prepn. procaine is treated by an aq. soln. of Na 131I, at pH 5-8, in the presence of chloramine T, and a phosphate buffer. The 131I-procaine soln. obtd. is deareated for 15 mins. by bubbling an inert gas through. Following this, it is treated by an aq. soln. of 99mTc+ of a radioactive concn. range of 1-15 Ci, at pH: 8-10. The dually marked radioactive prod. is purified by solvent extraction and is brought to Gerovital H3.
