abstract | Suspn. copolymers of vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, and maleic anhydride are prepd. at a monomer ratio of 81-85:14-17:1-5 pts. wt. and at a water to monomers ratio of 1:1.7-2.5. Polymerisation proceeds in presence of initiators: di (2-ethylhexyl)-peroxy-dicarbonate; di:cyclohexylperoxy-dicarbonate; bis (4-tert-butyl-cyclohexyl) -peroxy dicarbonate, or 2,2'-azo-bis(2,4-olimethyl -valero-nitrile)dicarbonate and as chain transfer agents: trichloroethylene, or a mixt. of trichloroethylene and carbon-tetra:chloride. Methylhydroxypropylcellulose, polyvinyl-pyrrolydone are used respectively or mixed, as suspending agents or a mixt. of methylhydroxypropylcellulose and PVA. Copolymerisation takes place at 45-50 deg.C. during 4.5-5.5 hrs. Yield: 91-93%. |
