titleOfInvention | PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF POLYPROPERATED ORGANIC COMPOUNDS CONTAINING NITROGEN |
abstract | A process is described for the preparation of polyfluorinated organic compounds having at least one urea bond which comprises: I reacting (a) at least one polyisocyanate or a mixture of polyisocyanates containing at least three isocyanate groups per molecule with (b) a less than stoichiometric quantity of at least one fluorinated compound which contains (i) a single functional group with one or more Zerewitinoff hydrogen atoms and (ii) at least two carbon atoms, each of which is linked to at least two atoms of fluorine, in each molecule and II then causing the remaining isocyanate groups to react with water in a sufficient quantity to react with from approximately 5% to approximately 60% of the isocyanate groups of the said polyisocyanate in order to form one or more urea bonds. The preparation of substrates having the capacity to repel oil, water and dirt and/or to release dirt by application of a polyfluorinated organic compound prepared by the process according to this invention to a substrate is also described. |
