abstract A description is given of a process for the preparation of pharmaceutical compositions suitable for the treatment of memory disturbances, senile intellectual disorders and Alzheimer's disease, characterized in that an effective amount, between 2 and 50 mg, of 1,3,7-trimethyl-8-[3-(4- diethylaminocarbonylpiperazino)propyl]xanthine, or one of the addition salts thereof with an acid that is acceptable from the physiological point of view, is mixed or associated, as active ingredient, with an excipient that is acceptable from the pharmaceutical point of view.
