abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of soil conditioning agents based on cross-linked copolymers containing sulphonic acid groups which comprises the copolymerization of a mixture of monomers formed from acrylamide and/or methacrylamide, a substituted acrylamide containing a sulphonic acid group, a vinyl compound with multiple functional groups which is soluble in water, and, possibly, co-monomers containing carboxyl groups, the copolymers being used as soil conditioning agents.
