abstract | Fungicidal process comprises applicn., to the locus of a plant pathogen, of a heterocycle of formula (I) or its N-oxide when Y = CR5, or its acid addn. salt (where R1-R4 = H, halo, 1-4C alkyl (opt. substd. by halo), 1-4C alkoxy (opt. substd. by halo), NO2 or NH2 provided that at least 2 of R1-R4 = H; either (i) one of X and Y = N; the other = CR5; or (ii) X = Y = CR5; R5 = H, Me or Cl; Z = O, NR6, S, SO, SO2 or CR7R8; R6 = H, 1-4C alkyl or 2-4C acyl; R7 and R8 = H, 1-4C alkyl or 1-4C acyl; or R7+R8 completes an opt. unsatd. 3-7C carbocyclic ring; or one of R7 and R8 + one of R9 and R10 = bond; R9 and R10 = H, 1-3C alkyl, opt. substd. phenyl, 3-8C cycloalkyl, OH, halo or acetyl; or R9+R10 = opt. unsatd. 3-7C carbocyclic ring; Ar = 3-8C cycloalkyl (opt. substd.); 3-8C cycloalkenyl; naphthyl; dihydro-, tetrahydro- or decahydro-naphthyl; 1,3-benzodioxolyl; fluorenyl; pyridyl; 2,3-dihydro-1,4 benzodioxin-2-yl, etc. Also claimed is a fungicidal compsn. comprising a cpd.
