abstract | Pyrrolidinyl p-cymene derivatives of formula (I) and their pharmaceutically-acceptable salts, are new R = H, acetyl, acetoxy, or hydroxy. In prepn. of (I), a thymol (II) is treated with N-(2-chloroethyl) pyrrolidine (III) in a liquid - liquid system in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst, esp. triethyl benzyl ammonium chloride. (I; R = acetyl) may be prepared by acetylation of (I; R = H) using acetic anhydride/percloric acid in toluene. |
