titleOfInvention | PROCESS OF SELECTION OF PHOTOSYNTHETIC ORGANISMS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF POLYHYROXIALCANOATES |
abstract | The present invention relates to a process for the production of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) using a mixed culture of selected photorosynthetic organisms in a preferred, non-sterile, anaerobic and presence of at least one carbon source. PREFERENTIAL CARBON SOURCES OF CULTURE ARE FERMENTATION PRODUCTS LIKE VOLATILE FATTY ACIDS THAT ARE CONTINUOUSLY USED BY PHOTOSYNTHETIC MICROORGANISMS FOR PHA GROWTH AND PRODUCTION. The present invention also relates to the use of this same mixed culture in the same bioreactor and in non-enlightened conditions to ferment sugars by producing volatile fatty acids which will be used as a carbon source for cell growth and PHA production during the operation in CONDITIONS ILLUMINATED. ADDITIONALLY, THE ORGANISMS OF THE CULTURE MIX CAN REMOVE PHOSPHATE FROM THE NET PHASE OF CULTURE ALLOWING TO CONCENTRATE AND RESTRICT THE PHOSPHATE TO THE SOLID FRACTION OF THE CULTURE ENVIRONMENT. |
