A new compound, (S) -5- (2-acetoxypropanamido) -2,4,6-tetrahydroisoquinoline, of Formula II, is used in the production of isopamidol with a low content of acetic and hydroxylacetic analogues, the novel acid compound (S) -1-CHLORO-1-OXOPROPANE-2-YLETHETHYL ACETATE, THE NEW COMPOUND MAY BE CONVERTED TO THEIR RESPIRATORY ACID DICHLORIDE BY REACTION WITH A CHLORINATION WHICH IS A SUPPLEMENTARY OBJECT OF THE PRESENT INVENTION, FOLLOWED BY THE AMIDATION WITH ACETATE 2-AMINO-1,3-PROPANODIOL AND HYDROLYSIS. |
