WHEN CONNECTED TO NUCLEOTIDES (2), THE CUMARINIC GROUP (3) PREVENTS THAT THESE ARE USED AS A SUBSTRATE BY ENZYMES, IMPOSSIBILITATING THE OCCURRENCE OF REACTION. THROUGH IRRADIATION WITH ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION, THE CUMARINIC GROUP IS RELEASED, MAKING THE NUCLEOTIDE AVAILABLE FOR THE REACTION. In this way, ENZYME SYNTHESIS REACTIONS OF NUCLEIC ACIDS CAN BE CONTROLLED THROUGH LIGHT.
