titleOfInvention | PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF NEW OIL POLYMERS FROM CAJU CASTANHA HULL |
abstract | This invention relates to a process for the manufacture of polymers based on cashew nut shell oil. This oil, a natural product, comprises 90% anacardic acid and 10% cardol. In this process of manufacture according to the invention possible reactions are interactions of polyisocyanates with reactive groups in cashew oil, these being: 1) the carboxylic groups of anacardic acid 2) the phenol groups of benzenoic acid 3) the double bonds in the chains. A variety of products such as insulating foams, thermoplastic elastomers or heat setting adhesives can result from the various processes. |
