titleOfInvention DEVICE PROCESS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF PLASTIC LENSES
abstract The invention relates to a process, device and composition for the production of plastics lenses. The process comprises an operation which comprises placing a suitable quantity of a liquid monomer or mixture of monomers containing at least two ethylenically unsaturated groups mixed with a photoinitiating agent (specifically methyl benzoyl formate) in a proportion of preferably less than 1.2% by weight in the inner cavity of a mould and directing a beam of ultraviolet radiation so as to cause its corresponding polymerization. This invention relates in general to processes, means and compositions for the manufacture of plastics lenses. It has applications in the technique of manufacturing optical lenses using thermal hardening techniques based on diethylene glycol bis(allyl)carbonate (DEG-BAC) polymer.
