abstract The application concerns new photoinitiation systems for photoinitiated cationic, radical, thiol-hybrid and hybridization polymerization, new terbium (III) complex compounds, method of their production, applications of terbium (III) complex compounds, new luminescent molecular probes for monitoring polymerization processes and new luminescence molecular sensors for testing coating materials. New photo-initiating systems for the processes of photoinitiated cationic, radical, thiol-hybrid and hybrid polymerization, containing onium salts and a co-initiator, are characterized by containing a) at least one onium salt selected from the following: iodonium salts selected from diphenyl iodonium hexafluorophosphate, hexafluoroanthonate diphenyl iodonium, 4-methyl-4'-isopropyl diphenyl iodonium hexafluorophosphate, 4,4'-dimethyldiphenyl iodonium hexafluorophosphate, 4-methyl-4'-isopropyl diphenyl diodonium tetrakis pentafluorophenylborate; sulfonium salts selected from triphenyl sulfonium hexafluorophosphate and triphenyl sulfonium hexafluoroantimonate; and b) at least one co-initiator selected from the group of terbium (III) complex compounds of general formula (1), wherein: A1 is a moiety of general formula (2), wherein R1 is hydrogen or fluoro; R2 is a hydrogen atom, a chlorine atom, a methyl group, a trifluoromethyl group; R3 is a hydrogen atom, a bromine atom, a methyl group; R4 is a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom, a methoxy group; A2 is a moiety of the general formula (3) in which R5 is a butyl group or octyl group; or A2 is a moiety of formula (4), x is 0, 1 or 2; n is an integer from 0 to 7.
