abstract Method for the preparation of α, β-dihydroxy polycaprolactone derivatives of the general formula H- [Ax] -ORO- [By] -H, in which A and B are the group -O- (CH2) 5-CO, R is an alkyl of at least two atoms C, x, y are natural numbers of x? 1, y? 0, in the polymerization reaction of β-caprolactone in an organic solvent or without a solvent, in the presence of an initiator, the polymerization reaction is carried out in the presence of titanium (IV) complexes as polymerization initiators with the general formula [Z2 (L) Ti] 2 ( ORO), in which the L ligand is a cyclopentadienyl or pentamethylcyclopentadienyl group, Z is F, Cl, Br, J, and R is as defined above, at a temperature from 100 ° C to 160 ° C, with a molar ratio of Ti to monomers from 1:10 to 1: 1000. Obtained α, β-dihydroxy polycaprolactone derivatives are used in the synthesis of many polymers as a polyol component, e.g. in the synthesis of polyurethanes, improving, among others their biodegradation.
