abstract The method of obtaining (R) and (S) enantiomers of 1- (2-benzimidazolylsulfanyl) propan-2-ol derivatives of general formulas 1 and 2, in which: R1 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, R2 is methyl or ethyl, R3 is a hydrogen atom or a halogenomethylsulfonyl group of formula 3 in which X = Cl, F and = 1,2,3, R4 is a hydrogen atom, acyl, benzoyl or carboxyethylcarbonyl group, consists in the fact that racemic 1- (2- benzimidazolylsulfanyl) propan-2-ol of formula 4, in which R1, R2, R3 have the meaning given above and R4 is a hydrogen atom, undergoes enzymatic transesterification with carboxylic acid esters of lipases, while R4 is an acyl, benzoyl or carboxyethylcarbonyl group, is subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis against lipases.
