abstract The subject of the invention is a process for the preparation of ionic liquids of general formula 2, wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7 are independently of each other a straight chain alkyl group containing from 1 to 20 carbon atoms or a proton or an aryl or benzyl group or substituent alkoxymethyl (R8OCH2-) or alkylthiomethyl (R8SCH2-), in which R8 is a straight-chain alkyl substituent containing 1 to 20 carbon atoms in the substituent, B is the acidic residue of an organic acid with the general formula HB, which may be a carboxylic acid (RCOOH), sulfonic acid (RSO3H) or an acid with a negative charge located on the nitrogen atom (RN-H +), which is the anion of the product, which consists in the exchange of the organic anion with another organic anion in the metathesis reaction.
