A method for producing higher oxo-alcohols from olefin mixtures |
abstract |
Production of higher oxo-alcohols from mixtures of 5-24C isomeric olefins comprises a one step hydroformylation with selective hydrogenation and recycle of unreacted olefin. A process for the production of higher oxo-alcohols from mixtures of 5-24C isomeric olefins by hydroformylation in the presence of a catalyst at elevated temperature and pressure is claimed. The hydroformylation is carried out in one step to a conversion level of 40-90 % in one pass. The reaction mixture is selectively hydrogenated following separation of the catalyst. The hydrogenated mixture is removed by distillation and the olefin fraction is returned to the hydroformylation step. |
