abstract In the present invention there are disclosed novel 2-azabicyclo/2,2,1/heptane derivatives of the general formula I or Iˆ, in which R represents a hydrogen atom or the group of the general formula II or IIˆ wherein Ri1 represents an alkyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms and Ar represents a phenyl or alpha- or beta-naphthyl group being optionally substituted with one or several identical or different substituents being selected from a group comprising halogen atoms, an alkyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and a nitro group. Those derivatives are prepared by bis-hydroxylation of corresponding 2-azabicycloheptane derivatives. The invented novel derivative of the general formula I is suitable for preparing adenosine agonizing agents.
