abstract |
A process for the hydroxy-carbonylation of butadiene comprises: (i) a reaction with CO and water at a temp. greater than 30 degrees C, a partial pressure of CO (at 25 degrees C) greater than 0.5 bar and in the presence of a promoted Ir-based catalyst and the promoter is an iodinated or brominated cpd.; where: (1) the molar ratio of I or Br/Ir of less than or equal to 20/l; and (2) the water concn. less than or equal to 8%. |
