abstract The utility model provides a process of asexually propagating Kauayantinik (Bambusa blumeana J. A and J. H. Schultes) using pre-rooted one-node culm cuttings in the production of planting materials. The process involves the selection and gathering of 1-2 years old healthy culms with well-developed buds from healthy clumps. The selected culms are prepared by pruning the branches, leaving one (1) internode of the branch intact. The culms are cut into 1-node cuttings, usually from the base to the middle portions. Cutting should be made 2 - 3 inches below the node and 4 -5 inches above the node. The nodes must have well-developed and uninjured buds. One-node culm cuttings are first placed in a rooting or sand bed and watered regularly with the exposed internodes always fHied with water to prevent dehydration until the development of plantlets. Rooted cuttings or plantlets are then transferred to potting bags with good media. Transplanted plantlets are regularly watered and properly maintained in the nursery for about 6-8 months and hardened at least 1-2 months prior to field planting.
