titleOfInvention A method of modifying surface characteristics of alumina
abstract Disclosed is a method of modifying surface characteristics of alumina, said method comprising the steps of: (i) forming an aqueous mixture comprising one part by weight of alumina and a monomeric or polymeric compound of Aluminium equivalent to 0.001 to 0.1 parts by weight of Aluminium content; (ii) equilibrating the mixture for at least five minutes; (iii) increasing the pH of the mixture to 6 to 8; and, (iv) drying said mixture, where said method comprises an additional step of increasing the pH of the mixture to 3.0 to 5.0 between steps (i) and (ii) when said compound of Aluminium is monomeric.
