abstract The purpose of the present invention is to provide a highly-alkaline detergent composition that has low-foam properties, characterised in that the detergent composition comprises components (A)-(B) and has a pH greater than 12. (A) is a non-ionic surfactant having a structure represented by general formula (1) at the terminal thereof, and (B) is an alkaline agent. (In the formula, R1 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, R2 and R3 are a hydrocarbon group that may include an ether bond, R2 and R3 may form a ring, AO are oxyalkylene groups that are either the same or different, and n is an integer 1-400.)
