titleOfInvention NEW IRON (III) HYDROXIDE COMPLEX WITH ACTIVATED GLUCOSE SYRUP AND PROCEDURE FOR ITS PREPARATION
abstract It refers to a process for the preparation of complexes of iron (III) hydroxide and activated glucose syrup which comprises the following steps: (i) providing an aqueous solution of glucose syrup with a dextrose equivalent (DE) of at least 21 and at most 60 as determined by gravimetric analysis at a temperature in the range of 25 ° C to 80 ° C and at a pH in the range of 6 to 13; (ii) add hydrogen peroxide and optionally a catalytic amount of an oxidation catalyst to the solution (i), allowing the solution to cool to a temperature between 10 ° C to 45 ° C keeping the solution at this temperature for 5 minutes at 24 hours, obtaining the activated glucose syrup; (iii) converting said activated glucose syrup into a complex with iron (III) hydroxide; and (iv) obtaining a complex of iron (III) hydroxide and activated glucose syrup wherein the complex obtained has an iron content in the range of 27% to 35% by weight, based on the weight of the complex. It also refers to a pharmaceutical composition. This complex can be used in the therapy of iron deficiency in animals and the general population.
