abstract The invention describes a composition for preventing or treating hyperlipidemia, fatty liver or arteriosclerosis which comprises an oxynomodulin derivative as an active ingredient. The oxynomodulin derivative has a great ability to activate the GLP-1 receptor and the glucagon receptor compared to native oxynomodulin and has the effects of reducing blood cholesterol, low-density cholesterol, and triglyceride levels They are elevated by high-fat diets and by increasing levels of high-density cholesterol and the ratio between high and low-density cholesterol. Therefore, the oxyntomodulin derivative can be effectively used for the treatment of hyperlipidemia and related diseases.
