titleOfInvention | Oil formulations with thickeners |
abstract | The treatment of plants or plant parts with cyclopropoenes is often used to interrupt one or more ethylene-mediated process in the plants or plant parts and thereby desirably delay unwanted ripening. The cyclopropene is often used in the form of a complex with a molecular encapsulating agent, which is dissolved or suspend as solid particles in a liquid. It is often desirable to suspend such particles in oil as water causes release of the cyclopropene from the complex earlier than desired. Oil suspensions of particles often displayed problems such as the suspensions could not be sprayed properly, the suspensions have too high viscosity at reasonable concentration of particles, the suspensions were not stable, the suspension settled or creamed, or the suspensions had some combination of these problems. This invention is based on unexpected effect of at least one thickener to maintain suspension or dispersion of solid particles in an oil medium. Such effect of thickener enables significant higher weight ratio of solid particles in such suspension composition as compared to previously known compositions. As a consequence, the suspension compositions provided herein enable more active ingredient in the solid particle to be present in a fixed volume or weight of such composition as compared to previously known compositions. |
