Disclosed are system and method for determining the location of a container (105). The system comprises a SIM card associated with the container (105) and a modem associated with the container (105) and in communication with the SIM card. The SIM card stores information identifying the SIM card. The modem receives information corresponding to the location of the SIM card, retrieves the information identifying the SIM card. Then the modem transmits the location and identification information to a remote server (110) via short message service (SMS). |
