abstract |
Disclosed is a therapeutic agent or prophylactic for hypertension or normal high blood pressure and renal dysfunction that is more effective than conventional drugs. Specifically disclosed is a sustained-release pharmaceutical composition for the treatment or prevention of hypertension or normal high blood pressure and renal dysfunction and which contains a 2-phenylthiazole compound represented by formula (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active component. The composition maintains an effective blood level for a period of at least 13 hours. Example of a compound of formula (I) is 2-(3-cyano-4-isobutyloxyphenyl)-4-methyl-5-thiazole carboxylic acid (febuxostat). |
