titleOfInvention Production of adipic acid and derivatives from carbohydrate-containing materials
abstract 596975 Disclosed herein are processes for producing an adipic acid product comprising the catalytic hydrodeoxygenation of a tetrahydrofuranic substrate to an adipic acid product with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrodeoxtgenation catalyst, a solvent and a source of halogen. The present invention also includes products produced from adipic acid product and processes for the production thereof from such adipic acid product. In one embodiment the hydrodeoxygenation catalyst comprises a first metal selected from Ru, Rh, Pd, Pt, and combinations thereof and a second metal selected from Mo, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ir, Pt, and Au. Additionally disclosed are products produced from the adipic acid products and processes for the preparation thereof.
