Disclosed is a method for preparing benzophenone derivatives of formula 20 by subjection a compound of formula 16 to a dealkylation reaction to give a compound of formula 17 which is further subjected to an alkylation reaction to give a compound of formula 18 which is further subjected to a ring-opening reaction to give a compound of formula 19 which is reduced to give a compound of formula 20. The variables are as disclosed in the description. Further disclosed is a compound of formula 36 where the variables are as disclosed in the description. |
