Disclosed are aminoguanidine compounds of formula (I), salts thereof, and methods for their preparation. Specific examples of compounds of formula (I) include: N-(2-Methylthio-3-chlorobenzylideneamino)guanidine hydrochloride, N-(2-Chloro-(3-ethoxycarbonyl)-benzylideneamino)guanidine trifiouroacetate, N-(2-Chloro-3,4-dimethylthiobenzylideneamino)guanidine, N-(2-MethyIthio-3-chlorophenylpropylideneamino)guanidine, N-(2-Chloro-4-Methoxy-3-methylthiophenylpropylideneamino)guanidine, and N-(2-Chloro-3-Methoxy-4-methylthiophenylpropylideneamino)guanidine. Compounds of formula (I) are useful for treating inflammation such as arthritic conditions and for inducing central nerve regeneration. |
